Taupo
Taupo – tourist attraction
Huka Honey Hive originates back to the early 1970’s when first opened in Poihipi Road as Taupo Honey Centre, and later Honey Village. In 1992, it moved to its present location near Huka Falls and is New Zealand’s most popular and largest specialist honey store, and certainly one of Taupo’s longest-standing tourist destinations.
Their large format store sells everything from the range of Honeymeister honey products, natural honey based cosmetics, bee products, meads and liqueurs, and general tourist giftware. Everyone loves to look for the queen bee in their live glass beehive, and learn all about the honey bee in the educational section of the store.
As a complete destination store, you can enjoy a honey-based dish from their in-store café, a honey ice-cream, or relax with a hot coffee or even a hot honey lemon drink.
