NZ Native Honey
Our native honeys come from the unspolit and remote native bush regions throughout NZ. Native honeys range from dark and strong to very light and floral flavours. Our unique hand-crafted honey processing techniques used by our third-generation Honeymeister creates one of the best tasting honeys you will ever try.
Enjoy the wonderful aromas and smooth creamy textures of our 100% pure New Zealand native honeys, from the natural butterscotch flavour of tawari, the floral limes of rata, to the strong caramel taste of rewarewa.
Note: 2012 NZ honey price rise
Our past summer was wet and cold and the resulting honey crop in NZ was very poor. It particularly affected our native honeys; especially manuka and rata honey. Some beekeepers only collected 10-20% of their normal crop. Incredibly, there was no pohutukawa honey collected at all last season on Rangitoto Island. The limited supply, combined with the on-going high global demand for honey, and especially for NZ honey, has resulted in much higher export prices being paid for NZ honey. All our honey is export-grade, so we have had no choice to pay export prices. It is hoped that next season will be a more typical summer season, which will see a normal honey crop. With higher honey supply, prices should drop again. Kris, Honeymeister.
